COST OF DENTAL IMPLANTS
The
overall cost of dental teeth implants is based on several factors.
Dental implant placement comprises of 3 or 4 individual steps.
1. Bone Graft at site of extraction (Only if required)
2. Placing of the Dental Implant
3. Placing of Abutment
4. Placing of dental crown on the abutment.
The cost of each step is different depending on the specific situation,
but is typically within a 20% range.
Broadly, placement of tooth implants can be divided into 4 steps:
Step
1: Initial Dental Implant Consultation
Dental
implant consultations are a critical part of the process of placing
dental implants in any patient. Dr. Lokhandwala will evaluate the condition
of the gums and jaw bone before recommending placement of the dental
implant. In order to do this intraoral and panoramic x-rays will be
taken. StarBrite Dental uses digital panoramic imaging and so all this can be
done in one sitting in our offices. Depending on various factors and
the amount of diagnostic work required, this "consultation/records
visit" may be charged. If the patient has dental insurance a
significant (if not all) portion of this dental implant initial visit
is covered.
Step
2: Bone Grafts or Sinus Lifts - If Required
If Dr. Lokhandwala determines that the bone condition or
depth is inadequate at the dental implant site, a bone graft may be
recommended before dental implants placement. Sometimes in placing
upper jaw dental implants it may be determined that the sinus cavity is
low and would need to be lifted in order to give room for the implant
to be inserted.
These procedures if determined to be required would
be performed in our offices by Dr. Lokhandwala.
In most cases this portion may not be required.
Step 3: Placement of
the Dental Implant (Titanium screw)
This involves placing a titanium
screw (the dental
implant) into the bone under the gum. The implant is slowly screwed into the bone using a guide. This process is done using local anesthetic, and is painless and takes about 45 minutes. Dental Implants with
screw-like threads such as those made by Nobel Biocare or Endopore are treated with
special materials on the screws to enhance or accelerate bone growth
and integration with the implant. After this stage, a
three-to-four-month waiting period is given for the bone to grow around
the dental implant screws and tightly integrate with it. During this time, patients wear a temporary
tooth for cosmetic reasons.
The cost of placing the single tooth dental implant is typically
between US $ 1500 - US $ 2200, depending on the specific situation. Typically, a single non complicated implant the cost is $ 1850.
For a LIMITED TIME (thru December 31, 2012),
StarBrite Dental is offering a single Implant placement for only $
1,400. Click below to request the free consultation appointment.
Step
4: Placement of the Abutment
This step involves inserting in the abutment into
the dental implant. The abutment is the piece which will ultimately
anchor the visible tooth. Depending on whether the dental implant abutment is standard
or customized, it can cost about US $ 650-800.
Step
5: Placing the crown
The crown placement (the part of the tooth that's
visible above the gum line) is the next step. As with an ordinary
dental crown, this crown is well-anchored by the implanted post that is
firmly surrounded by bone, much the way a natural tooth's root
stabilizes the tooth.
The cost of a dental implant anchored crown is
similar to a regular crown. Depending on whether it is front tooth or a
molar it can vary between US $ 1200-US $ 1350 depending on the number of crowns
being placed.
Mr. John Scott is a dental implant patient at StarBrite Dental. Dr. Lokhandwala placed 8 dental implants on the upper jaw for Mr. Scott.
The overall cost of a single uncomplicated implant (all inclusive, placement,
abutment +
crown) is therefore between US $ 3400 - 3800. At StarBrite Dental all
procedures are done under one roof. This cost is closely comparable to
the total cost of traditional bridges, but offer much greater
functional freedom and a significantly better esthetic result.
For a limited time (December 31, 2012) we are offering
our new patient's a $ 3,000 cost for placing a single uncomplicated
tooth implant+Crown.
This will reduce the average overall cost for the overall treatment by
between $
400 - $ 800.
A portion of this cost may be covered by dental
insurance in lieu of a 3-unit bridge which is the alternative to a
single tooth implant. 3-unit bridges require shaving down the two
adjacent teeth to the missing tooth to make a prosthesis covering all
three teeth.
Most patients now prefer to get teeth implants for
its various advantages.
